Leaving LA on a Southwest jet plane

Leaving LA on a Southwest jet plane. It’s the west coast version of sleazy jet. First come first served. Does it really cost more to assign a seat? Probably.

With hind sight 5 days in the Palihouse hotel is a couple of days too many. There is definitely a scene in the lobby but I soon discovered this is a thin veneer to a kind of up market hostel. Don’t get me wrong, if you are the right side of 25 this is the place for you. Banging in more ways than one but being the stately gent that I have now become, I feel the need for a daily room service. I may be wrong but I believe that even the “rooms from £29.99 a night Travelodge” offers at least that. Well Palihouse doesn’t. And coffee in the morning is just as hit and miss. I may be spoiled but its back to the Chateau from now on where they know my name and my number.

The new store on Rodeo is taking shape. A funny shape but taking shape none the less. All the walls are gone so it can be any shape we want right now. I love it. The top floor is looking loft-like and all the windows say we are ‘coming soon’. I expect Tiffany (our neighbours) to place the ‘we are moving’ signs up any day.

The first west coast Sins party held in conjunction with Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills was a lovely do. The models were as sinful as one could expect at an early cocktail affair with the general manager of NM the delightful John Martins and his wife present. My favourite model of the night was pride (it’s not always) who was sporting the latest in military officer chic; complete with a fishnet body stocking, thigh high jack boots and the Victoria Cross which I can only presume she won for administering a good hiding or bravery in the sack.

I spent next day in the NM store. It was the last day for the legend that is Nasrin, the fine jewellery manager of some 31 years. She actually stayed on for three weeks past her official retirement day just to be at my show. There were tears in glass eyes all round even if it was only the Hollywood crocodile tears effect.

Rushed to LAX to head for our San Francisco event that night. Same format; sins, models, jewels. There is a pattern beginning to form and I had better get used to it because this is only the beginning.

I have to say Colleen, the manager of the jewels salon in San Fran is a one off. The envy vodka lounge was top shelf. An ice sculpture copy of the envy ring complete with eyes and a green glow was the bollocks. Great do; sins cocktails and cougars all round. Love it.

I was tired and irritable after the party and should have gone to bed but with only one night in town I had to make the most of it and take all the amazing staff out, mine included. Colleen was a handful but rightly so.

The next day in the store it was a slow start and then the beat really kicked in. We rocked. One of the best shows for a while. First sin to sell: wait for it ……Gluttony! Who would have thunk it? She was sold on the British dental work on the 4 mouths.

Already in my PJ’s waiting for the valium to kick in on the BA flight home. Knackered but comfy. Goodnight.
